Tall Pacifist Build: A Non-Aggression Economic Playstyle
A tall pacifist build’s core idea: don’t chase territory, instead push a small number of planets to maximum output, and use diplomacy to keep the peace so your economy can develop uninterrupted.
Why B-tier
Tall builds aren’t weak, but their ceiling generally sits below top-tier expansion or war builds — a limited territory footprint creates a hard cap on total resource output that even a very efficient single planet can’t fully offset. So this is rated B: solid and stable, but not the strongest option available.
What to do early
- Lean your ethics toward peaceful diplomacy, and pick civics that boost diplomatic relations or defense rather than expansion-focused civics.
- Put trait points heavily into output efficiency (research/resource conversion) — a tall build has less room for error, since each planet’s efficiency directly determines your overall ceiling.
- Actively maintain good relations with neighbors, and consider alliances as a safety margin if needed, to avoid being dragged into wars you don’t want.
Sustaining the advantage mid-to-late game
As a tall build moves into the mid-to-late game, prioritize ascension perks that boost per-planet output ceiling (see Ascension Perks wiki entry) over expansion-focused perks — this fits the “fewer, better” philosophy of the tall build and further widens the efficiency gap over standard empires.
