Guides
Actionable, topic-sorted guides from your first colony to the endgame crisis.
How to use this channel
Every guide here is written for the current 4.x version of Stellaris and built to stand alone — but they also form a deliberate learning path, and reading them in order will save you a lot of trial and error.
If you're brand new, start with How to Play Stellaris, which walks through galaxy setup and your first 20 years, then read Resource Management Basics so your economy can actually support what comes next. From there, pick your identity: Civics & Ethics explains how ethics, authority, and civics chain together, and the ethics combinations deep dive takes that further once you're comfortable. The Species & Origins guide and the origin deep dive cover the other half of empire creation.
Once your empire survives contact with the neighbors, move to the military track: Ship Design Basics teaches range tiers and armor-vs-shield ratios, and Weapon Types Explained breaks down the individual weapon families and their counters. Finish with the crisis guides — the Unbidden and the Contingency — ideally before the endgame year arrives, not after.
Returning players can skip straight to the category cards below; each card groups its guides by topic. Every guide is tagged with a difficulty level and the game version it was verified against, and we revisit the mechanics after major patches — so the numbers, loadouts, and settings paths here reflect how Stellaris plays now, not how it played at launch. If you only have time for three reads, make them the beginner guide, the civics guide, and the ship design guide: economy, identity, and military, in that order.
