Weak Signal

Weak Signal is a real Stellaris anomaly found on uninhabitable planets, granting research and — for empires with the Evolutionary Predators origin — progress toward the Adaptive Evolution situation.

Weak Signal shows up on any uninhabitable planet type, making it one of the more commonly-encountered anomalies simply because there are so many barren, frozen, molten, and toxic worlds scattered around a typical galaxy.

What it does

The base reward is Society research. If you’re playing an empire with the Evolutionary Predators origin, investigating also grants progress toward the Adaptive Evolution situation, along with either Mammalian or Reptilian DNA depending on which variant of the anomaly you encounter.

Why it matters more for some playthroughs than others

For a standard empire, this is a modest, welcome research tick and nothing more. For an Evolutionary Predators playthrough specifically, it’s a meaningful building block toward that origin’s signature mechanic — worth actively hunting down uninhabitable worlds to investigate rather than deprioritizing them the way you might in a normal game.

(Editorial note: an earlier version of this site had a wiki entry for a fabricated anomaly called “Void Echo.” This entry replaces it with a real, verified anomaly with a similar “deep space signal” theme — see this project’s fact-check log for details.)
