Must-Have Quality of Life Mods
Quality of life mods share one thing in common: they don’t touch game balance. They just make things smoother and clearer to look at — safe for nearly every player to install without worrying about disrupting normal gameplay or breaking achievements.
Before you install
- After subscribing via the Steam Workshop, you’ll need to manually enable each mod in the game’s launcher.
- Some mods have dependencies on each other (certain UI mods need a specific icon pack, for example) — usually noted on the subscription page, so check before installing.
Does this affect multiplayer?
QoL mods typically don’t affect save compatibility, but a multiplayer game requires every player to run the exact same mod list — this restriction doesn’t apply to single-player.
| Mod | Notes |
|---|---|
| UI Overhaul Dynamic | Improves UI layout and information density, with clearer display at higher resolutions — doesn't touch game balance. |
| Planetary Diversity (series) | Adds visual variety to planets — purely cosmetic, no impact on numeric balance. |
| Better Fleet Views | Improves the fleet management screen, noticeably more readable when managing large fleets. |
