Nemesis
Nemesis’s headline feature is letting you actively choose to become the “Menace of the Galaxy” — playing as the end-game crisis yourself against every other empire. It’s one of the very few expansions capable of completely upending your usual play pattern.
What’s actually in it
Beyond the Menace path, Nemesis also adds espionage and counter-espionage systems, giving previously thin intelligence warfare much more room to play out — even if you never touch the Menace path, the general diplomacy/military depth of a standard game improves as a result.
Who should buy this
If you’ve already run the standard expansion opening many times and want to try flipping the script as the villain, Nemesis is currently the only expansion offering that experience. If you’re still building up your core-system DLC collection, this can wait.
What's Included
- Adds the 'Menace of the Galaxy' path, letting you play as the crisis and become the antagonist
- Adds the Enforcer position and espionage/counter-espionage mechanics tied to the Galactic Community
- Adds several powerful late-game ship components and crisis-exclusive tech
Pros
- The 'Menace of the Galaxy' path is a genuinely unique endgame experience unavailable anywhere else
- Espionage/counter-espionage adds a previously missing layer of hidden diplomatic play
Cons
- The Menace path leans toward a niche, fun-focused playstyle — limited value if it's not your thing
Is It Worth It?
If you're tired of standard expansion builds and want to try the completely different 'become the crisis' experience, this delivers something unique. Players focused on steady development can skip it for now.
